At the Early Advanced level, students transition from study pieces to professional repertoire. Focus is placed on the beginning works of composers such as Scarlatti, Bach, Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart, and Haydn. The student will gain the skills necessary to move on to works by composers such as Liszt and Rachmaninoff.
Dr. Michael Schneider places high importance in teaching students to problem solve at a young age. He encourages them to be their own musical detective. He has developed this approach into a lecture for other teachers entitled, “The Art of Practicing” and has given this lecture at numerous state music conventions throughout the past decade. Dr. Michael Schneider believes that if a student understands how to tackle technical challenges in the earliest pieces, it sets them up for future success!
